So yesterday I left school about half an hour early to get home so my parents and I could leave for Washington, D.C. for Joel's marathon this weekend. We were supposed to leave around four, but we didn't even leave the apartment until 4:30, not to mention stopping and getting me a book and getting dinner for on the way, since mom and I hadn't eaten since breakfast. We finally got on the road at around 5:00.
So we were driving along for a while, I was reading my new book (The Pillars of Creation, by Terry Goodkind), listening to my MP3 player, and thinking about Miranda :-) At some point, we stopped at a rest area (Granville County or some such place in NC), where I called Miranda...but no answer. I dunno why, but recently her phone hasn't been noting that I've left her messages or even called her phone. Weird...Oh well. So I went back to reading. Well, I couldn't read for much longer since the light of day was lessening about now, so I decided I'd pull out my laptop and watch some Stargate, hooray! I watched...two episodes, I think? Yea...then I got bored with that, so I started playing Neverwinter Nights, which (with my laptop plugged into the adapter thingy) gave off enough light to play in the dark. So I did that for a while...eventually, around...9:30, we stopped and had McDonald's for dinner. We were about 78 miles from our hotel then.
We finally reached the hotel around 11:20 or so, then had to check in and all, plus try not to get lost...we got up to our room at about 11:30 something, and then decided to go see the sights in the dark. THAT WAS TOTALLY AWESOME!
We saw the capitol building, and it was all lit up and pretty...I think everyone who is a citizen of America should come to D.C at least once in their life to see our capitol, and the beauty (if somewhat artificial) of the city and architecture...it's very awe inspiring. We came back around one, after having gotten lost in the dark, most of which I was asleep during. Came inside, went to bed.
Today, we got up, went to the Marathon sign in thing, mom and I went to the Expo area, I bought some new sunglasses (I look hott!), then we went to Arlington Cemetary..that was...intriguing, to say the least...skipping around all the other stuff, the metro was lots of fun.
I also got to go to the mall a few blocks away. It was fun! I got to go into an Apple store (didn't know they existed) and a Sony store (there aren't many of those) and they were cool as all get out, with all their computers and wide screens and such. Yea! Then I checked out Macy's, but cudn't buy anything...now I'm talking to Miranda...YAY!!!
Goodnight all!
